Course Materials
MyLab Statistics (Essential): Math 15 homework will be done ONLINE using Pearson’s MyLab Statistics course software. We will also be using this software for our Math 215 Practice Tests as well as for our Math 15/215 Project.
To register for our MyLab Statistics course, please follow these Math 15 MyLab Statistics Registration Instructions.
If you need help, I am happy to walk you through the sign-up process at the end of our first class meeting.
Graphing Calculator (Essential): You will need to have a graphing calculator for this class. I recommend a TI-83 or TI-84.
Calculators are available for checkout for FREE from both SRJC libraries on a short-term or semester-length basis. You can check out calculators here:
Mahoney Library (Petaluma Campus) / 1st Floor / Circulation Desk
Doyle Library (Santa Rosa Campus) / 2nd Floor / Tech Gear Desk
Textbook (Optional): Elementary Statistics, by Mario F Triola, 13th Ed. ISBN 10: 0-13-446245-9
An e-book copy of the textbook comes with your MyLab Statistics subscription, so if you are comfortable doing to assigned reading on a computer, then you do not need to purchase a physical copy of the textbook.
Purchase Options: You can purchase MyLab Statistics access with a copy of the e-book from the SRJC Petaluma Bookstore for $100.00. Alternatively, you can also purchase MyLab Statistics access (either for one term or multi-term) during the MyLab Statistics registration process. This option may be cheaper than the bookstore, so please check out your options. MyLab Statistics also offers a free 2-week trial, so you can also use that option to get started in the class.
How to Get Your Questions Answered
How to Contact Me
I am here to answer your questions and support your success in this course. The best way to get your questions answered is to ask them during class! I know that can be intimidating at times, but I guarantee that if you have a question, you are not the only one - you're just the only one brave enough to speak up!
If you have a personal issue that you wish to discuss with me, I prefer that we chat before or after class.
For lengthier issues or for questions that occur outside of class meetings, you can email me at abrown@santarosa.edu, drop by any of my office hours, or post your question in our Canvas General Course Q&A Discussion Forum.
I strive to respond to emails within 1-2 school days. If you do not hear back from me within that time, please feel free to email me again!
How to Get Help on Homework Questions
I am available to help you with homework questions during my office hours and we may also have time for homework questions during our Math 215 classtime.
Our class PALS (teaching assistant) this semester is K.D. McComb. K.D. took Math 15 and Math 215 with me in Fall 2022 and was my PALS during Spring 2023. She will be available to answer your questions in class and will hold additional office hours to help you learn Statistics. Please feel free to ask her for help! You can email her at thedancingmama@gmail.com.
Post your questions in our Math 15 Canvas Discussion Forum. Your question will be seen by your peers and if anyone has the answer, by all means, answer it! You can also upload images and screen shots to help each other. I will also monitor the questions in the discussion forum and will answer them during my office hours, as time permits.
Take advantage of SRJC's free Tutoring Services, which are located in the Petaluma Campus Mahoney Library Reading Room and in the first floor of the Santa Rosa Campus Doyle Library.
There is also a Math Lab available in Kunde Hall, Room 153 on the Santa Rosa campus.
MyLab Statistics also has many built-in resources, including videos and step-by-step explanations on similar questions.
